Gi.Metal aluminium pizza screen Ø 33 cm | DF33
The Gi.Metal DF33 creates an open surface between the pizza and oven floor. It is useful when reducing direct contact with the hot deck, including two-stage baking. This round screen is made from untreated aluminium, measures 33 cm in diameter and weighs 150 g.
When is a pizza screen useful?
It can help when the base is already coloured but the top needs more time, or as a support during par-baking and finishing. The open mesh lets heat pass through while reducing direct deck contact. It does not replace oven adjustment: adapt time and heat to the dough and desired browning.
Flat mesh rather than a solid tray
The pressed mesh has a flat surface and seamless rim. It does not form a continuous metal surface like a tray. This changes baking behaviour but does not guarantee a fixed time saving in every oven. Check that the 33 cm diameter fits through the opening and on the deck.
Tested up to 350 °C
Gi.Metal states that its screens have been tested up to 350 °C. This does not establish suitability for higher temperatures: do not choose DF33 for Neapolitan baking at 450–500 °C.
Organising multiple screens
The Gi.Metal AC-PRO rack is a useful companion when working with several screens. Arrange your station so that hot screens can be placed and retrieved in a controlled way.

Frequently asked questions | DF33
Will it stop the base burning?
It reduces contact with the hot deck and can influence browning, but cannot rule out burning. Temperature, time and dough still matter.
Can I use it at 450 or 500 °C?
The stated tests are up to 350 °C. Suitability at 450–500 °C is not established; stay within the stated range.
Is it non-stick?
No. It is untreated aluminium. Flat mesh is not a non-stick coating; release also depends on the dough and baking.
What is two-stage baking?
The dough is par-baked and then finished, for example after toppings are added. A screen can reduce contact between the partly baked base and hot deck.
Does it suit a home pizza oven?
Yes, if the opening and deck accommodate Ø 33 cm and the temperature remains within the stated range. Also follow the oven instructions.
